Trek to Kottebette (peak)
Well, I shall save the details of my journey for later, this one is more like a Nat Geo information about the trek.

Kottebette is the third largest peak in Coorg. It is located at 22kms from Madikeri (a town in Coorg). The mountain is at a height of 5375 ft. At the foothills of Kottebette is a village by the name of Mukkudlu. It haqs the most virginic locale. Beautiful water falls, natural bathtub formations in the rocks, surrounded by thick jungles, add to that a super rustic stay at the close to the waterfalls.. unique ehh!!
Kottebette is a typical Coorg village house that is surrendered by coffee estates. Overlooking the lush green paddy fields, natural springs flowing down the nearby hills is the source of water supply to this house where dawn is heralded by the birds, singing and chirping. Guests are provided with simple local vegetarian food, cooked on traditional firewood stoves. What better for Eco-tourism!! One can spend a couple of days walking along the jungle paths or relaxing at the waterfalls. The Kottebette peak is ais an 8 km trek. The trek is challenging as well rewarding. The route is rugged and tough. The view from the top is breathtaking. There is a small temple which is believed to have been built by Bheema (from the Mahabharata) during their vanavaasa. The pond nearby has water throughout the year inspite of this height at which it is located.
